John Wadsworth is P&E Constructors’ Chairman of the Board. He bought P&E in 2002 from the Farnham family and became Chairman when ownership was transferred to employees in 2016 through an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP).
A graduate of Wichita State, John worked on capital projects around the world for Koch Industries before discovering P&E just a mile up the road. A friend who was an employee at P&E introduced him to its CEO at the time, who was thinking about retiring. John was interested in leaving the big corporate life behind for a smaller, private company and was excited to find one in an industry he knew and understood well—and whose values fit his own.
“I’m proud of the organization for its core values,” John says. “P&E is full of hardworking, committed people who are passionate about helping their customers and coworkers. Honesty and integrity are important: We do what we say we are going to do.”
In his role as Chairman, John especially enjoys helping younger employees expand their opportunities, take on new responsibilities and grow their careers. He’s similarly focused on growing the company as a whole.
“My goal is to continue to expand P&E’s capabilities to be able to provide more services to meet our customers’ needs,” John says.
Outside P&E, John also serves as the COO of BOE Midstream and is a co-owner of Wichita Sports Forum. He says his greatest achievement in life is raising two happy, healthy and successful daughters with his wife of almost 40 years.
