Kristie Schmidt is the Chief Financial Officer at P&E Business Services. She leads a team that supports all P&E entities with financial, IT, legal and administrative services.
A graduate of Emporia State University with literature and business degrees, Kristie somehow always found her way into the accounting department at her early career jobs. This talent led her to P&E, where she began on the accounts payable side and then took on roles of increasing responsibility until she became CFO in 2019.
Kristie says the high value P&E places on commitment, hard work and passion resonates with her, especially in a role that lets her learn something new every day. “There is never a boring day at P&E,” Kristie says. “Every day brings a new challenge.”
Her goal for Business Services is to continue to help all of P&E’s organizations become stronger and maximize their efficiencies. “We want to take our support to the next level, so each entity gets what they need to be successful,” Kristie says. That support is a two-way road at P&E, she says, remarking that the strong relationships and level of care her coworkers share is unique. “There isn’t a person in the office I couldn’t call if I was stranded on the side of the road somewhere,” Kristie laughs.
Kristie and her husband are licensed foster care parents. When she’s not leading P&E Business Services or fostering, Kristie also loves spending time outdoors, hiking, and working on her 52-books-a-year reading goal.
